UDWJA holds Press Day Celebration
Udupi: “Journalists should find time for entertainment, relaxation and other activities apart from their busy working schedules,” said U K Kumarnath, Resident Editor of Vijayakarnataka. He was speaking at the Press Day celebrations organized by the Udupi District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) and Udupi Press Club at IMA Bhavan here, on July 1.
Deadlines and busy workflow have been a daily part of a journalist’s life. Managing time for entertainment, relaxation and active participation in other activities promotes professionalism and also builds career. Humanism should be a part of life. There are insecurities in every profession and in the journalistic profession, the insecurity of pressure, competition and finance take prominent role.
“We are witnessing effective mobility of technology in media and the mobilisation continues. Adapting new technological environments strengthens the roots of journalism. This may be the age of social media and other technological advancements, but media still plays a prominent role in the lives of people,” he added
After receiving a felicitation, senior journalist Nithayananda Padre also shared his insights. Paper distributors Mohammed Gouws alias Paper Gouws and Y Shrinivas Rao were also felicitated on the occasion. The children of the members of District Working Journalists Association were felicitated for scoring high marks in PUC and SSLC exams.
President of UDWJA Jayakar Suvarna delivered the presidential remarks. Ganesh Prasad Pandelu, secretary of UDWJA, welcomed the gathering. Nagraj Rao compered the programme. Rajesh Shetty, Chetan Padubidri, Nazeer Polya and others were present.
