Ullal Veera Rani Abbakka Samiti Decides Utsva on April 18 at Thokkottu against Dist Admin
Mangaluru: “The district administration should print our name in the invitation of Ullal Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav. If the administration fails to print our Samiti’s name, the Samiti will celebrate the Abbakka Utsav on April 18 and 19 against the district administration”, said the founder president of Ullal Veera Rani Abbakka Samiti and former MLA K Jayaram Shetty in a press meet held at Hotel Woodlands here on February 17.
Addressing the mediapersons Jayaram Shetty said, “In the Rani Abbakka Utsav celebrations there is a contribution of the Samiti as well as the locals. But from the past two years, the district administration is celebrating the Abbakka Utsav with government funds, so the Abbakka Samiti did not take part in the Utsav. From the past two years, people also did not show much interest in the Utsav. At present, now the District Commissioner has formed a committee of 120 people to celebrate the Utsav.”
Jayaram Shetty further said, “This year we have requested the concerned authorities to include our Samiti’s name in the invitation. If they will not include our name in the invitation we will not take part in the celebrations. The Veera Rani Abbakka Samiti has decided to celebrate the Utsav on April 18 and 19 to give a befitting reply to the district administration. We will find sponsors and will celebrate the Utsav”.
Former vice president of the committee Haider Partipady, former president Dinakar Ullal, General Secretary Dhanalakshmi Gatti, D N Raghav, Suhasini and others were also present.
