Under trial Prisoner commits suicide in Hiriyadka District Jail
Udupi: An under trial prisoner committed suicide by hanging himself in the Hiriyadka district Jail on Sunday, February 3.
Amarnath (32), who was lodged in the prison from November 2018 in connection with an atrocity and rape case, ended his life by hanging himself to the fan in the video conference hall of the prison. The Jail authorities rushed him to the district hospital but he breathed his last on the way.
In 2018 November an atrocity and rape case was registered against Amarnath in the Udupi women Police station.
A case has been registered in the Hiriyadka Police Station.
