Undertrial POCSO accused Suresh Naik Escape Case, Two Cops Suspended
Udupi: The Udupi district Superintendent of Police Laxman B Nimbargi on Monday, October 8, suspended two PC’s after an undertrial POCSO accused had escaped at the Byndoor Railway Station from their custody while being taken to Karwar Jail on October 6.
Uday Kumar, a head constable attached to the Byndoor police station and Gopal Krishna H, a head constable with the district armed reserve police are the suspended police officials.
The undertrial arrested under the POCSO Act had managed to escape from the police while he was being escorted to the district jail in Karwar on Saturday, October 6. The undertrial, Suresh Naik, accused of sexually assaulting his sister-in-law, was arrested two months ago by the Byndoor police.
The accused was produced before the court in Udupi on Saturday and was being escorted back to Karwar prison when the incident occurred.
Based on a report from the DySP of Kundapur, negligence of the two police officials was proved in this case. The search operation for the accused Suresh Naik is underway, said SP Nimbargi.
