Unfortunate that Police are Involved in Helping Cattle Traffickers – SP Nisha James
Udupi: “It is unfortunate that our own police are involved in helping the Cattle traffickers to pass their vehicles easily at the check posts. Every department has black sheep and also efficient officers. We should also recognize the effort of our efficient officers’ in tracing such officers in the department.” said Udupi District Superintendent of Police Nisha James.
She is speaking to the media persons on July 18, over the arrest of two police officers in relation to helping the cattle traffickers in the Kota Police Station limits; “The SP said that the police department is working impartially in dealing with Cattle theft and other cases. Because of some efficient officers we have arrested the cattle traffickers and rescued the cattle at the Sastan Toll Gate. So far we have arrest two police officers including one from the Manki Police Station of Uttara Kannada district and another from Udupi district. Four more are absconding and search is on to arrest them,” she said.
“We have a total of 1000 plus police in the district. If anyone is involved in such incidents then it will be a black mark for the whole department. I urge the public to inform the local police station or myself if they find anyone, whether it is the police or others helping anti-social activities directly or indirectly in the district. We will take strict action against them. I have recommended suspending the arrested police officers,” she said.
