Union Govt should amend the Constitution to Protect Cows: Pejawar Swamiji

Udupi: For the protection of cows, the union government should amend the constitution said Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamji of Paryaya Pejawar Math. He was addressing the day-long hunger strike “Go Satyagraha” seeking a ban on cow slaughter, in the country and other demands related to the cow organised by Karnataka Rajya Go-Shalegala Okkoota at Sri Krishna Math premises here.

Protection of the Cow is the protection of Mother. Cow slaughter cannot be accepted in this country. it is unfortunate that cow slaughter had not been banned in the country as well as in our state. Many people have started to say that it is our right to food and also the cow slaughter issue given a religious touch is painful. It is not the question of the Majority and minority people; we need the support of minorities to protect cows, revered by the majority as mother.

The government has been showing negligence and carelessness about the Cow Protection Act. The preservation of cow is important to humanity in terms of religious, economic, hygienic as well as agricultural point of view. In Karnataka, a maximum number of cows are being transported to the Kerala slaughter houses. The earlier state government had brought the Karnataka Prevention of Slaughter and Preservation of Cattle Bill 2010 and the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Preservation (Amendment) Bill 2012. The present government had withdrawn the bill to appease one particular community. The Union government cannot pass the anti-cow slaughter bill directly. But it can bring an amendment to the constitution with a stronger anti-cattle slaughter law. The voters should also give their precious vote during the elections to the party will bring a stronger anti-cattle slaughter law, he added.

The Go Satyagraha will demand the Union government to pass a stronger anti-cattle slaughter law. And urge the state and district administration to take stringent action against cattle thieves. The cattle traffickers/transporters who are cause for violence should be punished with a five-year imprisonment and Rs one lakh fine. The pastures should be reserved for cattle grazing. Pastures in the state must be surveyed and fenced and green grass should be grown for feeding cows.

Other demands include punishment for the guilty with imprisonment up to seven years and fines up to Rs 50,000. A uniform law across the nation on cow slaughter and seizure of vehicles involved in illegal transportation of cows are included in the list of demands.

Sri Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Sri Vidyavallbha Thirtha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math, Sri Kalahasthendra Swamiji of Anegundi Math Katapadi, Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R Mendon former MLA’s, Mattar Rathnakar Hegde BJP district president, Hindu outfit leaders Dr M B Puranik, Vilas Nayak, Sunil K R and others were present.

Question from a non-bovine animal to the Pejavar seer

What wrong have we done that we don’t appear on your list?

Dear Swamiji,

There is a person sitting behind you by name Mattaru Rathnakara Hegde. He has grabbed government land in front of his home and is now claiming as his own. The BJP party, which boasts about its highly moral principles, does not seem to be bothered by this blatant daylight theft of public property by one of their own leaders. He is not practising what he is preaching.

Could you have a quiet word with him?

Dear ‘non-bovine animal’,
You are right – we hear you. Let’s first start with cows and then extend it to all animals. You are also on the list. Remember – all the good things start with a small step. Everyone didn’t get equal rights on the same day. It was started with one group and then extended to other groups later.

Dear “Truth Seeker”, 1. I did not know you were the official spokesperson of pejavar math. Congratulations on your appointment. 2. We are fed up with the repeated undue importance given only to cows in India and not other animals. Nobody is bothered about us. For a change we would like the pigs appearing on pejavara swamiji’s protection-movement. Cows can take the back seat. I wholeheartedly respect cow’s rights to exist but there are times when we have to think about ourselves first. 3. While you seem to be closely associated with the Pejavar Swamiji, could you also help him… Read more »

India is home to 300 million cattle and is the world’s largest exporter of beef — it exported $4.8 billion worth of beef only last year — and its fifth-biggest consumer. Not only is the beef industry big in India, so far we have also been able to exercise individual freedom to eat or not eat beef ever since Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014. The earliest Vedas do not prohibit the slaughter of cattle. In fact, they ordain it as a part of sacrificial rites. Cattle were not only the major sacrificial victims in the… Read more »

Dear ‘non-bovine animal’, Thanks for responding back and letting me know that you are actually a pig. It helps to know who I am talking to! As you know, I have been a great champion of all animals and birds. I feel sorry for you because you are raised for only one reason – ‘naaalige chapala’!! Especially one particular community loves you so much that they can’t live without your body parts!! Unfortunately, they hate people like me and Pejaavara swamiji for many reasons that go back several generations. I hope that one day good sense prevails and they stop… Read more »

Meanwhile, people like Pejaavara Swamiji and I will try legal route to ban these savage acts. Hang in there, buddy. – RampaNNA muttering to himself

Aloo, Pyareallu Thyampu,

Being Yumreeki, do you have legal recourse to Indian Law? Can you even file a RTI petition to inquire about the color of Kejriwal’s socks? Just curious…. 🙂

Veteran BJP politician Mr.Jaswant Singh is right in his assessment. This center government UPA II plus cow.

Why Swamiji is not calling for blanket ban on ‘beef exports’ which took ‘pink revolution’ under PM Modi’s regime to world no1 exporter?

Sadly,Human killing in the name of cow sanctity should be condemned in the harshest terms. Will Swamiji will ever speak to this open murders in the name of cow protection?
