Union Govt Should Notify Criteria for Awaas Yojana- Youth JD(S)

Mangaluru: “When people go to the bank to get a loan or to claim benefits of the various government schemes the staff in the bank do not cooperate with them. We have received a complaint from a woman that she had applied for a loan under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana and from past three months she was made to run from pillar to post to get the loan but the bank authorities are not co-operating with her. Finally, she approached us begging for help. When we enquired with the bank, the authorities said that the woman is not eligible to get the loan under PMGAY”, said the president of District Youth JD(S) Akhsith Suvarna in a press meet held at the JD(S) office Bendurwell here on June 9.

Addressing the mediapersons Akshith Suvarna said, “If the woman was not eligible for Awaas Yojana why did the concerned bank officials make the woman run from pillar to post for 3 months before telling her about it? Don’t they know their job or is it something else?.Why doesn’t the government clarify the eligibility for Awaas Yojana? The government announces many schemes but the eligibility to avail the schemes is not clear. In the coming days, The District Youth JD(S) will form a team to help and guide those who face difficulty in availing such schemes.”

Akshith further said, “Recently due to the rains, the drains were clogged in some areas, especially at the Jyothi junction. If in just one rain, this is the situation of our city, then what will the people have to expect in the coming days? The unscientific roads without proper rainwater drains have created artificial flooding in the city. The MCC should take precautions to avoid such situations.”

The General Secretary of District Youth JD(S) Madhusudan Gowda, District Secretaries Faizal, Deepak, Ashik Ismail and Sinan were also present.
