Union Ministers inaugurate MUDRA Yojana at Sahyadri
Mangaluru: Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs visited Sahyadri along with other dignitaries. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament facilitated the visit as a part of their “Workshop for Beneficiaries” on MUDRA Yojana, Start Up India & Stand Up India which was held at the Sahyadri Campus.
While addressing Sahyadrians, Rajiv Pratap Rudy extended his deepest condolence to the Union Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Anil Madhav Dave who passed away this morning. He then informed the gathering of his urgency to leave and quickly appreciated the B.E students who brought laurels to Sahyadri by participating in competitions at IITs/NITs and also took pride in congratulating them by saying that these students are much better than them as they won places in top engineering institutions of the country. He then inaugurated “Tech Vision 2017”, an intra-collegiate project competition and congratulated the participants for their extraordinary projects displayed and presented during the site tour. He also released a book on “First Year Engineering Students Achievements” which highlights the success stories of the student’s participation at IITs and NITs.
Arjun Ram Meghwal, during his interaction with Sahyadri Management and Staff team, promoted the concept of Start-Ups to be driven by the institution and was delighted on viewing that several Start-Ups already existed in Sahyadri.
During his speech at the “Workshop for Beneficiaries”, he had words of praise for Mangaluru being the Education Hub in addition to Skills which can be used effectively through MUDRA Yojana for the development of the nation. He clarified that GDP has three baskets – Consumption, Investment and Export. Hence the loans granted through MUDRA Yojana increases consumption due to increased productivity, increases investment through profits and also reduces Exports. In this whole process, the GDP increases and Karnataka will lead in the contribution to GDP of the nation in the years to come.
Initially, people had skill however they could not Start Up & Stand Up as they did not have the guarantee for their Skill, however with Skill India, they get certified and the Prime Minister, Narendra Modiji has taken the guarantee for Mudra Loans on himself. He concluded his talk by saying, “The year 2017 is a year of Economic Reforms for India as there are various economic initiatives taken this year”.
Nalin Kumar Kateel while addressing the gathering briefly described the initiatives of Skill India which is a measure proposed to retain Indian talents by providing 3/6 months and also one year course on Skill Development. This would, in turn, lead to ‘Make in India’ through ‘MUDRA Yojana’. He concluded by giving a gist of how funds have been allocated and effectively utilized in Dakshina Kannada District under various programmes on Education, Skill Development, Upliftment of Women, Infrastructure, Rural Development and so on.
