Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu to Grace Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Dr. T.M.A. Pai International Convention Centre, on the 16th of May, 2016, at 11.00 am

Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during the press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Rammohan Pai Maroor-President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, “The KCCI is holding its Platinum Jubilee Valedictory Function at the Dr. T.M.A. Pai International Convention Centre, on the 16th of May, 2016, at 11.00 am. On this great occasion, KCCI has welcomed Suresh Prabhu,Hon’ble Minister of Railways,Government of India, as the Chief Guest of the function. Ramanth Rai, Minister for Forests, Ecology & Environment, Govt. of Karnataka and District in-charge Minister, D. K. District, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Dakshina Kannada and J. R. Lobo, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Mangaluru South, will be the Guests of Honor. This year, being the Platinum Jubilee Year of KCCI, the Chamber has brought out a Platinum Jubilee Souvenir cum Coffee Table Book, to chronicle the success saga of Kanara Chamber and the progress story of Karavali Karnataka, which will be released during the occasion.”

“The Platinum Jubilee Year, which can be marked as a path breaking year, has come as an opportunity for charting the future course of action for this premier business body. It is the right time to think of re-engineering its vision, mission and proposed action plans for the next century and beyond in order to make it an important instrument to chart our economic and social progress. A time has also come to build a State of the Art Business Development and Convention Centre of international standards to house the Chamber for the future. The pioneering initiatives of U. S. Mallya and other visionaries who led this organization, were instrumental in bringing a number of economic value added public assets like the New Mangalore Port, Mangalore International Airport, National Institute of Technology, West Coast Highway, Konkan Railway, MRPL, Mangalore SEZ and so on, paving the way for economic growth and social well being of this area.” added Rammohan P Maroor.

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangaluru is the District Level Chamber of the erstwhile Dakshina Kannada District, inclusive of the geographical area of Udupi District, and is functioning as the Premier trade body of Coastal Karnataka. Established in the year 1940, it has been playing an active part for the last 75 years in the success saga of this Land. It has been actively engaged in empowering enterprise and facilitating growth as well as striving for the general welfare and public interest of the people at large in our District. During the course of these 75 years of fruitful existence, the KCCI had its prominent role in almost all major developmental activities and projects that have taken place in the District.

Many Hon’ble Ministers of State and Central Govt., Governors of States and Ambassadors / Consul Generals of Foreign Nations stationed in our Country, have visited our Chamber, addressed our Members and interacted with them on various subjects of importance to Trade, Commerce & Industry. The KCCI thanks the general Public for their support and wishes and welcomes all of you to this important milestone in its illustrious history.
