Los Angeles, Feb 20 (IANS) Actress June Fairchild, best known for her role as the Ajax Lady in Cheech and Chong’s film “Up In Smoke”, has died at the age of 68.
Fairchild passed away Thursday from liver cancer at a convalescent house here, reports dailymail.co.uk.
After playing a number of smaller roles in the 1970s, Fairchild succumbed to drug and alcohol addiction before her career managed to properly take off.
She also appeared in films like “Drive, She Said”, “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot” and “Pretty Maids All in a Row”.
Fairchild was also a part of TV shows like “Hollywood a Go-Go” and “Playboy After Dark”.
Born as June Wilson in Manhattan Beach, she changed her name to Fairchild under the suggestion of her boyfriend Danny Hutton when she discovered there was another actress of the same name while applying for her Screen Actor’s Guild Card.
