Dehradun, Oct 19 (IANS) To encourage shooting of films in Uttarakhand, the state government on Monday announced implementation of the Uttarakhand Film Policy-2015.
Making the announcement in this regard, Ranjeet Rawat, industrial advisor to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat, said the film policy aims at providing single-window, hassle-free clearances to shooting requests, promote tourism and create jobs through it.
Rawat also instructed chief forest conservator Shrikant Chandola to ensure that clearances for film shoots in the hill state are given within a week and that a nodal officer was appointed at the headquarter to coordinate between the film fraternity and the government departments. Efforts are also being made to create jobs for local and regional artists, Rawat said.
Provisions in the film policy have also been made to revive closed film theatres and to widely show documentaries and films shot locally.
Secretary Information and chief executive officer of the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, Vinod Sharma told IANS that so far six production houses have applied for film shoots at different locales in the state and four requests have been cleared.
