UUDA has allocated Rs 5 crore for the Development of Lakes – Pramod Madhwaraj
Udupi: The Urban Development Authority has allocated Rupees 5 crores for the development of lakes said Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Minister in-charge District, Pramod Madhwaraj. He was speaking after laying the foundation stone to Majalkere Lake at Volakadu, Udupi here on March 15.
Rupees 2 crore have been utilized for the development of 4 lakes in Udupi. The money collected from land conversion is utilized for the development of lakes.
While the country was ruled by Kings they had built lakes but today the irony of democracy is that the lakes are turned into layouts and housing sites which has destroyed our water resources. The water scarcity is the gift for destroying the lakes. Rs 10 crores have been utilized for Minor Irrigation, vented dams and the development of lakes. Rs 25 lakh has been allocated for the development of lakes, he added.
