Values declining in Indian politics: Pejawar Swamiji
Udupi: Pejawar Mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami described the recent political developments in Maharashtra as immoral and lamented that the values in politics were declining with every passing day in the country.
He told media persons, prior to the visit of Sri Nischalananda Saraswati Mahaswami of Sri Kshetra Puri Gowardhana Peetam, Odisha to Pejawar Mutt, that the three-day BJP-NCP government in Maharashtra was nothing but a reflection of the collapse of moral values.
The very idea of Shiv Sena and NCP allying with Congress, BJP trying to unite with NCP, is indicating the deterioration of values in politics and the greed for power among elected representatives.
Replying to a query over the future of BJP led Karnataka government after the by-polls, the Seer said that coalition governments work only when there is some common agenda between the parties. Otherwise, it will lead to political catastrophe, he opined. The seer responding to Muslim Law Board’s decision to file a review petition in Supreme Court regarding the Ayodhya case, he said that the verdict was delivered by a five-member Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court. Thus I am not sure if the court will again accept a review petition.
