Various Organizations Pay Tribute to 44 Brave Hearts Killed in Pulwama Terror Attack

Mangaluru: Various organizations joined hands and gathered at the Kadri war memorial on February 15, to pay tribute to the 44 brave hearts who were killed in a heinous terror attack in Pulwama, Kashmir on February 14.

Leaders from the BJP, Congress, Ex-Service Men and locals assembled at the Kadri war memorial and paid their tributes to the soldiers. A minute silence was observed for the souls of 44 brave hearts who sacrificed their lives in the Pulwama terror attack.

Addressing the gathering ex-serviceman Sharath Bhandary said, “February 14, 2019 is a sad day, 2500 CRPF Jawans were returning to the camp. It is a question how so many Jawans had gathered together? Normally a convoy of 100 to 200 Jawans travel, but due to heavy snowfall, the national highway was closed and all the jawans were sheltered at the Jammu camp. All of them were later sent in 78 vehicles. They had met their family members and were returning to their units. They were all unarmed and were killed before they reached their unit which is a heinous crime. Today I am very pleased to see this huge crowd gathered here to pay tribute to the 44 CRPF jawans which shows that we all have a special respect for our soldiers”.

Addressing the gathering Ganesh Karnik said, “On February 14, 44 CRPF personnel were killed and many injured in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Pulwama. After the training soldiers take the oath to protect the border and the nation. After their holidays, soldiers were returning to their unit to join duty. But the suicide bombers killed the innocent soldiers. Those soldiers sacrificed their lives to protect us from our enemies. Soldiers are protecting the borders 24X7 X 365 days. Today we light candles and observe a minute of silence. I request everyone to forget discrimination of caste, creed or party. This is not another death but a great sacrifice. You all have gathered here to show your solidarity. We need to send a strong message that the whole country has joined hands to fight against the terror activities.”

Later addressing the gathering Mithun Rai said, “The soldiers who were protecting the borders were killed in a terror attack. This is not the time for politics but to be united to give justice to those who were killed in the heinous terror attack. This is the time to join hands to console the families of the deceased. This is the time to strengthen our prime minister to fight terror and stop such attacks in the future.”

Social activist Stany Alvares speaking to mangalorean.com said, “Today the condolence meet was meaningful. Various organizations joined hands and gathered at the Kadri war memorial. We need to be united to fight against the terrorists and stop such attacks from repeating. Some people see their benefit during such critical time, they should think of the 44 soldiers who were killed by the suicide bomber. My heart goes to all the 44 soldiers who were killed in the terror attack and to their family members who have lost their loved ones.”

All the leaders, ex-servicemen and locals paid their tribute by lighting candles at the war memorial.
