Vasudaiva Kutumbakam marks World Doctor’s Day, DHO Ramakrishna Felicitated
Mangaluru: Under the able leadership of Cardiologist Dr Padmanabh Kamath, World Doctor’s Day was celebrated in a unique way with the theme “Vasudaiva Kutumbakam” at the IMA hall, Attavar here on July 1.
The programme began with an invocation. Dr Padmanabh Kamath welcomed the gathering. Chief Editor of Medicin Man Anup Soans introduced various BU heads to the gathering.
District Health Officer Dr Ramakrishna was felicitated for his tremendous service in the Government Hospital.
Addressing the gathering Dr Ramakrishna said, “Two days ago the organizers called me and said that I will be honoured on Doctor’s day. Today after receiving this honour, I have been made to be more responsible and committed. When I work anywhere, I take everybody as my family members. I have always tried my best to do my part for the society”.
Dr Ramakrishna further said, “In the beginning while working under pressure it was very stressfull but now with out work pressure I cannot understand what is happening in my work place and surroundings. According to Dr Chirag Doctors never die”, and he is right, as long as we are in service we will not die. Doctors are considered as God. The inspiration for me to take this profession is Dr U Laxminarayan Rao. He was so sincere and worked with integrity. After his retirement, he was doing honourary service without expecting anything in return. He was serving the poor of the poorest. I really love to do this job because there are so many people who suffer from various diseases and need our support. Today if I am honoured it is because of the support of all my colleagues, my juniors, seniors and the staff.”
150 water purifiers and 20 nebulisers were distributed to the Anganwadi and Primary health centers, which was donated by Dr Padmanabh Kamath and team. BU Heads later briefed about their companies and upcoming CSR activities to the gathering.
