Veer Foundation National Level Art for Peace Competition
“VEEER FOUNDATION NATIONAL LEVEL ART FOR PEACE ” – An initiative to transform as young leaders for social construction
Mangaluru: Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen said by the famous artist, Leonardo da Vinci. To bring out the hidden talents from students through art, VEEER Foundation (an active NGO which follows peaceful environment as their motto) joined hands with PG Department of Journalism and Communication of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women organized the National Level Art Competition with Art for Peace as their theme on 18th February 2020. The objective of conducting events like these is to transform students into community leaders for social construction.
Students from St Aloysius College , Canara College and Besant women college Mangaluru had participated and won 3 rd prize and 3 consolation prizes. Lakshman Rohit Maradappa, Young leader of International Olympic Committee, Mrs. Dhamayanthi. N., Associate Vice President in HCL Technologies Limited, and Rajendran. R., Founder and Director of Dessin Academy, Rohan Shiri National President Veeer Foundation graced the occasion.
Nearly 2000+ students have participated from 20 colleges from all over India including Andaman and Nicobar Island, and 200 students were shortlisted to the Final Level. Students put up their peace and spent three hours to share their creativity through painting.
From that, M. Surendar, the student from Avichi College, Chennai, won the first prize of Rs. 25,000 by beautifully portraying peace vs war, K. Sarveshwaran, the student from St. Thomas College, Chennai, won the second prize of Rs. 10,000 and Ovin D’Souza, the student from St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru, won the third prize of Rs. 5,000.
After the event, the participants shared their thoughts as: “This competition helped us to think about the world’s condition and how everyone should behave and react when crisis arise.”
