Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav to be Held in Mysuru on Jan 6 and 7

Mangaluru: The Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav will be organized in Mysuru at the Maharaja College grounds on January 6 and 7, 2018. To mark the Abbakka Utsav 5 eminent personalities will be felicitated. Last time we had celebrated the Rani Abbakka Utsav in Bengaluru, this is the second celebration which will be held in Mysuruand next celebration is planned to be held in Delhi. The elected President of FKCCI Sudhakar Shetty has been appointed as the Convener of the programme”, said the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit house here on December 9.

Addressing the mediapersons President elect of the Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sudhakar Shetty said, “In Mysuru we have 15,000 families and a population of 1 lakh people of Dakshina Kannada. People of DK are involved in various businesses and organize a number of programmes where a large number of people gather. There are 22 various community organizations. This time when we met the minister for Food and Civil Service, he asked us to organize the Rani Abbakka Utsav in Mysuru for which we whole-heartedly agreed.

We have formed a 100 member committee from all walks of life. The Maharaja College ground is a prestigious ground with a capacity of 1 lakh people. Chief minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the programme. All the politicians irrespective of the party will take part in the programme. We have formed a committee to chose 5 women who have contributed tremendously to the society. In Mysuru we start any programme with zero balance, the total cost for the Veera Rani Abbakka Utsav will be around Rs 1 crore. We will also be introducing budding talents during the programme.”

Director of FKCCI Ravindra Swamy and Janardhan were also present.
