Veerappa Moily Heads Manifesto Committee for Upcoming Elections

Mangaluru: The state government has formed the Manifesto committee for the forthcoming elections and the government has appointed me as the chairman of the Manifesto committee. We are given the responsibility to draft the manifesto and hand it over to the CM by January 15. In the first Manifesto committee meeting, we have formed fifteen Sub-committees and some of them have submitted their report. We have divided Karnataka into 6 zones and we have already visited all of them. The manifesto committee will meet all the NGO’s, stakeholders and various organizations. On December 3, the manifesto committee and party leaders will meet the stakeholders from Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Hassan, Udupi and Chikkamagaluru at Hotel Ocean Pearl in the city”, said the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and the MP of Chikkaballapur Veerappa Moily in a press meet held at the District Congress Office here on December 3.

Addressing the mediapersons Veerappa Moily said, “The Manifesto committee will visit all the NGOs, stakeholders, various organizations, Industrialists, Town planners by the end of this month. According to the directions of the CM we are consulting the concerned authorities to get the details of the development work and to prepare the DPR to develop the state under Vision 2025. In 2013, we had given assurances in our manifesto, we are in the process of preparing the beneficiary list which will be completed by January. According to our assessment, we have fulfilled 159 promises out of the 170. In addition, we have implemented 25% more schemes which were not mentioned in the manifesto. Out of 6.5 crore population of the state, 5 crore have benefitted. We have started to collect all the information which will be uploaded to our website. The individual beneficiary list will also be uploaded to the website so that no one should be confused.”

Veerappa Moily further said, “When the UPA government was in power, in 2008-09 we had waived Rs 72,000 crore loans of the farmers and 13 crore farmers had benefitted. But the NDA government has not done anything for the farmers. Even though it is the duty of the Central government to waive the farmers loan, they have not done any favour for the farmers. It is a great achievement making Karnataka a hunger-free state with 3.5 crore people benefitting and 1 crore families benefitting from the Rajiv Arogya Scheme. From last three to four years we are maintaining a stable economy and everything within the fiscal discipline. There has been no set back in the development work, irrigation, social justice and electricity. For the first time in history, Rs 80,000 crores were allotted for the SC/ST which was made compulsory to be spent for their welfare. Whatever the state government has done will be uploaded in the Pratibimba for transparency.”

Veerappa Moily also said, “Whatever possible has been given to the people of our state. We have not fooled the people but have fulfilled the promises made during the elections in 2013. We are sure to win the elections in 2018. The NDA government has failed to fulfil the assurances made during the elections. Even Prime minister Modi has failed to maintain foreign diplomacy. Diplomacy with Pakistan failed, diplomacy with the US has also failed, China exports goods to our country but does not import Indian goods. The relationship with China, Afghanistan, Russia and US has failed and these countries do not trust us”.

KPCC Spokesperson Sudarshan said, “Karnataka is a progressive state under the Congress government and if we compare to Gujrat it is a plutocratic state under BJP government. Through the following empirical observations and comparisons, we can see the stark differences in the work of the government towards the progress and development of the respective states. The gross state domestic product led by the Congress government in Karnataka is Rs 10,27,06,783 lakh whereas the BJP led government in Gujrat is Rs 9,94,31,599 Lakh. Interest payment by Congress government in Karnataka is Rs 12,672 whereas BJP led government in Gujrat is Rs 17,000 crores. The outstanding loan of the Congress government in Karnataka is Rs 1,73,800 crores whereas BJP led government in Gujrat is Rs 2,23,400 crores. The GDP per capita in Karnataka is Rs 1,32,880 whereas in Gujarat Rs 1,24,678.”

District Minister In-charge Ramanath Rai, district Congress president Harish Kumar, Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza, MLC Kondayya, Puspa Amarnath, Sudharshan, Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D’Souza and others were also present.
