VHP and BD demand Ramanath Rai’s resignation for remarks against Prabhakar Bhat

Udupi: Activists of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bajrang Dal staged a road block at the Service Bus-stand Circle on Tuesday, June 20 in protest against Minister Ramanath Rai’s remarks against Prabhakar Bhat. The protesters shouted slogans against the minister.

Addressing the gathering Sri Ramachandra Swamiji of Uttara Kashi Math strongly condemned the minister for making derogatory comments against Bhat while compelling the SP to arrest him. The minister is now instigating the police to target Hindu organisations in the coastal region and playing appeasement politics. Rai is trying to disturb communal harmony in the coastal region. He demanded Ramanath Rai’s resignation and warned that, if he fails to tender a resignation for dragging Prabhakar Bhat the VHP and BD will be launching an intensified protest across the state.

Vilas Nayak district VHP president criticised the minister for forcing the police department to arrest Bhat even if he is innocent in the Kalladka clashes. He demanded the resignation of the minister immediately for his provocative statements which could disturb peace in Dakshina Kannada. The chief minister should immediately drop the minister from the Cabinet. If Rai fails to tender his resignation the VHP will fight against Rai in the court. The Police Department is misused by the Congress leaders. The ministers are despotic and they exploit the police personnel for their convenience, he added.

Suprasad Shetty, Shyamala Kundar, Sandhya Ramesh, Sunil K R, Dinesh Mendon, Girish Kundapur, Rathnakar Ameen, Vijay, Shailendra Shetty, Gitanjali Suvarna and others were present.
