VHP and BD Demand to Cancel License of Ladies Bar and Liveband in City

Mangaluru: “Mangaluru city has a rich culture and is also the hub of education. With a number of religious centres, education institutions and hospitals, it is a model city in the state. But in recent days, live bands, ladies bars and massage centres have been spoiling the culture and peace in the society. Such ladies bars and live bands should be banned. If they are not banned, incidents like the pub attack and homestays might reoccur in the city,” said the VHP Mahila Pramukh Asha Jagadish in a press meet held at the press club here, on June 19.

Addressing the mediapersons, Asha Jagadish said, “We are not against music and bars. But in the name of music, ladies bars and live bands have mushroomed in the city. We need to stop such bad culture from gripping our city.”

District president of VHP Jagadish Shenava said, “In Lalbagh, Hampankatta, Pumpwell etc., permission has been given for ladies bars, live bands, pubs and massage centres, which will misguide our youth. There is also a possibility of facilitating prostitution in such centres.”

“The police department and the district administration should cancel the permission for such centres. If action will not be taken, we will protest and continue our fight,” Shenava warned.

Jagadish Shenava also said that derogatory comments about Hindu Gods, Goddesses, Temples and Maths were being circulated in social media. He said that the concerned authorities should look into it and take stringent action against those involved in posting, supporting and circulating such derogatory comments.

Members of Bajrang Dal Bhujang Kulal, Pradeep Pumpwell and Punith Kottari were also present.
