VHP and BD to hold protest on July 3 demanding stringent action against cattle trafficking

Udupi: The Vishwa Hindu Parishath (VHP) and Bajrang Dal demanded that the district administration and state government take stringent action against cattle traffickers across the district.

Addressing the press meet zonal co-ordinator Sunil K R said that cattle trafficking has ruined the twin districts. The failure of the district administration in tackling cattle thefts has led to a rise in the crime.

This is a strategy by the people of a particular mindset to disturb communal harmony and peace in the region. The police should take stringent action against those who transport cattle heads without permission, he said

There is only one approved slaughterhouse in undivided Dakshina Kannada. Unfortunately, there are over 2,000 illegal abattoirs in undivided DK where cows are slaughtered. Even after knowing the whereabouts of the cattle thieves, the police have failed to act. Instead, the police are filing cases against Hindu organization activists who had stopped the illegal transportation of cattle, he alleged.

Commending Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil’s decision, Sunil K R said that in Mangaluru, the commissioner has planned to form special squads to check the increasing incidents of cattle trafficking. Such an initiative should be taken by the Udupi Police as well, he demanded.

In order to demand that stringent action be taken against cattle traffickers across the district Vishwa Hindu Parishath (VHP) and Bajrang Dal are organizing a protest on July 3 in every Assembly constituency of the twin districts, he said.

Vishwa Hindu Parishath District Secretary Pramod Mandarthi, Bajarang Dal District Convener Dinesh Mendon, District Gau Rakshak Pramuk Dinesh Shetty, HJV General Secretary Prakash Kukkehalli, and VHP Udupi city President Santhosh Bolje were present at the press meet.
