TV Journo Vijayalakshmi Shibaroor Bags Vaddarse Award
Udupi: TV journalist of ‘Cover Story’ fame, Vijayalakshmi Shibaroor, has been chosen to receive the Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Journalism award, instituted by the Brahmavar zone Journalists’ Union from this year.
This has been announced by the Union president Chittoor Prabhakar Acharya.
The award will be presented to her at a function to be held in Buntara Bhavan in Brahmavar from 9-30 am on July 24. The day will be marked by a state-level journalism workshop students under well-known resource persons.
The award presentation will be held at 4 pm. Prominent thinkers and social activists will also participate in the programme, said Acharya.
The award is named after the fearless and upright journalist, the late Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty, who was the founder-editor of ‘Mungaaru’ Kannada Kannada daily published from Mangaluru a few decades ago and successfully ran it against heavy odds for a few years.
