Chennai, April 18 (IANS) Actor-turned-politician and DMDK founder A.Vijaykant will contest from Ullundurpet assembly constituency in the May 16 Tamil Nadu assembly elections, the party said.
The party is contesting the polls in alliance with the People Welfare Front (comprising MDMK’s Vaiko, two Left parties, Dalit party VCK) and G.K.Vasan-led Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC).
Vijaykant, who is also the chief ministerial candidate, currently represents the Rishivandiyam constituency but has decided to change to Ulundurpet in Villupuram district, over 200 km from here.
In 2006 assembly elections, he won from Virudhachalam seat.
The DMDK will contest in 104 out of Tamil Nadu’s 234 constituencies, with the balance to fought by its allies.
