Vinay Kumar Sorake demands CM to Upgrade Kaup with Taluk status
Udupi: Former Minister and Present Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake submitted a memorandum to CM Siddaramaiah for upgrading Kaup as a Taluk.
CM Siddaramaiah who was on his way on Sunday, October 30 to lay the foundation stone of the MC Hospital in Udupi, visited Kaup Rajiv Bhavan. Vinay Kumar Sorake along with party workers submitted a memorandum to which the CM responded positively said Sorake later interacting with media persons.
The legislative councils in Kodagu, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada apart from Kaup have been taluk centers but Kaup has still remained as a hobali.
Former Revenue Minister MP Prakash had proposed for a Special Tahsildar, Kaup has 36 villages, Kaup was the Hobali centre during the British rule. The people of Kaup have to depend on Udupi for all government work, half the population of Kaup depends on the Sub-Registrar office of Mulky.
Kaup Block Congress President Naveen Chandra Shetty, Harish Nayak, Kaup Diwakar Shetty, Sarasu Bangera, Naveen Shetty, Ganesh Poojary and other Congress leaders were present.
