Violation of Home Quarantine Rules: Udupi DC Warns of permanent seizure of passports
Udupi: The Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on March 27 warned of legal action, including seizing of the passports of overseas returnees violating Home-quarantine guidelines that have been put in place by the district administration.
In a press release, the deputy commissioner has warned that some travellers who are advised to undergo home quarantine are flouting the guidelines and putting others at risk. Though are tracked, some of them have been found violating the Government’s strict order of Home-quarantine. The list of travellers is handed over to the Taluk administration and the police for tracking. If anyone is found violating the order, a criminal case will be booked against them.
We would recommend to permanently seize the passports of those who have returned from foreign countries and do not adhere to the strict guidelines, including home quarantine.
About 1100 people are under home quarantine across the district. The district administration is pasting stickers outside the residences of those who have been recommended for home quarantine by the doctors.
