Violation of Seal down, Congress Demands Home Quarantine for MLA Vedavyas

Mangaluru: The Congress party demanded the district administration to keep the MLA of Mangaluru South Constituency Vedavyas Kamath under home quarantine as he had violated the seal down and visited the containment area in Boloor.

In his press statement KPCC Spokesperson P V Mohan said, “Our neighbouring districts Udupi, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Shivamogga are in the green zone. It is the duty of our MLA also to keep our district in the green zone taking all the necessary precautions and measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Due to the negligence of the leaders, we have lost three lives. On May 1, MLA Vedavyas Kamath along with his associates had visited the Boloor area and violated the government seal down norms”.

P V Mohan also demanded the MLA for self-isolation or Home quarantine, failing to do so the district administration should submit the report to the government about the violation of the seal down norms. Along with the MLA, the MCC member and eight other persons who had accompanied the MLA should also be home quarantined. In our state, many of the MPs, DCs, police officers, and higher officials are under home quarantine.

“According to the government norms, 100-meter area around the active Containment Zone will be sealed down and all activities banned in the area for 28 days. Even the journalists or those who have passes are not allowed to enter the Containment zone. Only the appointed officials and Asha workers are allowed to help the residents in the Containment Zone. The Boloor area was also sealed down on April 30, and the MLA had visited the containment zone the next day, which is a total violation of the seal down norms. Why did the MLA visit the containment zone? Why did he violate the norms? Is he facilitating the spread of the virus, or is he trying to contain it?, questioned P V Mohan.
