Viv Richards’ son gifts Kohli a painting of his double ton
Antigua, July 26 (IANS) Mali Richards has joined his father and West Indian legend Vivian Richards in hailing India skipper Virat Kohli, who blasted his maiden double ton to guide the visitors to an innings and 92-run win in the first Test against the hosts here.
As a tribute, Mali Richards gifted Kohli a painting that captures a moment from his blistering knock at the Sir Viv Richards stadium in the first Test match here.
“We decided to commemorate his maiden double hundred as he registered the milestone here in Antigua. We prepared the entire painting in just one day and came here to present it to him,” the junior Richards told bcci.tv after gifting the painting made by him and his artist friend.
Viv had earlier hailed Kohli’s knock as “classy”. The Delhi batsman also became the first Indian captain to score a double hundred away from home in Tests.
“I think it was a magnificent hundred. To score a double hundred at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground is a formidable task in terms of what he has achieved. As a batsman myself, it was very pleasing to see and even though it was against the West Indies, I do appreciate seeing class and his was a classy knock,” he said.
