Vote Before Knot! Would-Be-Bride Casts Her Vote on Her Wedding Day in Udupi Dist
Mangaluru: Last year on 12 May 2018 in Belthangady, we had a story similar to the one which has taken place today in Udupi District, where a bride-to-be Viola Maria Fernandes had a tough choice to make- Whether to skip voting and head straight to the Church – but that young bride-to-be, decided to do BOTH – Cast her valuable VOTE, and also get herself united in HOLY MATRIMONY after voting. (Read more of that story- http://www.mangalorean.com/here-comes-the-bride-to-cast-her-vote-in-wedding-gown-prior-to-her-wedlock/ )
And today, 18 April 2019, we have yet another story of a bride-to-be, Akshatha, who will be getting married today, and just like Viola, decided to vote before her wedlock, since she did not want to miss the voting privilege to cast her valuable vote in this 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Akshatha before heading to the Kalyana Mantapa, came to the Indiranagar Primary School polling station at Hebri in Udupi district, and exercised her franchise- and she also happened to be the FIRST voter of the morning at that booth. Wow- indeed a proud and memorable day to be remembered by her.
Time and again we have been reminded of the importance of casting our votes. However, many a time due to prior commitments and important work, many decide to ditch going to the booth and standing in long queues. So, in case you think your work or your wedding day was more important than casting your vote, let this young lass Akshatha be an inspiration. In a sign of enthusiasm among voters exercising their franchise, this young woman in full bridal attire arrived at the polling booth to cast her vote, surprising many standing in the queue. Often people do not cast their vote if they have something important to do on that day. However this bride, by exercising her franchise, has shown that it is really important that everyone should cast their vote. Good job, Akshatha-You Go Girl!
Like they say “Early Bird Gets the Worm”, Akshatha being the Early Bird to cast her vote got all the media coverage! Team Mangalorean wishes Akshata and her Bridegroom-to-be, a Happy Married Life- and in case, if the candidate that this would-be-bride had voted, wins, it was ONLY because of her valuable vote?.
