Vroom…Vroom..! Get Ready for the Mangalore Motor Sports Association (MMSA) ‘Auto Cross 2109’ Taking Off on Sunday at Goldfinch City Grounds, Kulur-Mangaluru from 8.30 am

Mangaluru : After a long gap, Mangalore Motor Sports Association (MMSA) is back in action to enthrall the city auto racing fans with a BIG event taking place this weekend. Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, Anwar Manipady, the Founder member of Karavali Automotive Sports Club/MMSA said, “MMSA will bed organizing Auto Cross 2019 for Cars on Sunday, 9 June 2019 at 8.30 am at the Goldfinch City Grounds, Kulur-Mangaluru. The event will run in compliance with the 2019 International Sporting Code of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India,the Governing Body for Motorsports in India”.

He further said, “Motor sports in Mangaluru goes way back to the 1980’s when it all started with four driving enthusiasts, who decided and went onto start the Karavali Automotive Sports Club. The Club over the past years has organized many National and local events and has given many opportunities to the local to unleash their talents, and has groomed Race and Rally Drivers and Navigators from Mangaluru, who today dominate the sports nationally and has been instrumental in helping start new Clubs, one being the MMSA. The Late Mohammed Eshaque, a founder member of Karavali Automotive Sports Club, a driving talent, who had won many laurels was a inspiration to each one of us in Motorsports and was always keen to organize Motorsports events in Mangaluru. He recently passed away due to an illness, and in his memory MMSA has decided to dedicate this AutoCross 2019”.

“After a very long break Mangaluru will witness some of the best driving talent from the National Circuit, as nearly 50 entries have already been confirmed, and we expect ,many more on Saturday and on the day of the event. Our local heroes Arror Arjun Rao, Dean Mascarenhas, Aroor Vikram Rao and Babban Khan, to name a few, will be in action to enthrall the spectators. MMSA has done all the necessary permissions and arrangements for the event, and care is taken for the safety of the participants and the spectators” added Manipady.

Sudhir B K, the President of MMSA addressing the media said, “The Flat Dirt Track which is about 800 mts in length and 15 mts wide, has sharp tight and fast corners and Hair Pin Bends. Each Individual competing car (Four Wheeler) will have to complete the Course in Two laps, thus covering a total distance of Approx 1. 6 Kms. The track will open for practice for confirmed entries on Saturday 8th June from 9 am to 1 pm. Each Car will start solo and timed. The Driver shall compulsory wear ISI confirmed Helmet and a 3 point Seat Belt or Safety Harness is mandatory. The timing too confirms standards with Stop Watch and Finish, The Winner will be decided by which drive completes the entire course with the fastest timing. Attractive trophies, Certificates and cash prizes will be awarded to the Winner- First , Second and Third Place”. .

Shameer Razak- Founder member of Karavali Automotive Sports Club/MMSA, Lancelot Saldanha- Steward for the Event & member of FMSCI and Yatish Baikampady-Media coordinator were present during the press meet. The event is only for Cars (Four Wheelers) and will run confirming eligibility as per the FMSCI Classification depending on the cubic capacity as follows :

GROUP B : Modified

2 Wheels drive Up to 1400 CC
2 Wheels drive Up to 1650 CC

SINGLE MANUFACTURER

Support Classes running Under group B Modified (Waiver Granted)
2 Wheel drive up to 800 cc
2 Wheel drive up to 1100 cc

INDIAN OPEN CLASS/SOUTH KANARA LOCAL CLASS/SPECIAL LADIES CLASS RUN IN STOCK GROUP
