Walkathon Stresses on the ill Effects of Drugs in Karkala

Karkala: In a bid to create awareness about the ill effects of drug consumption, the Udupi district police, Udupi district working Journalist’s Association, Udupi Press Club and Rotary Club Karkala took out a walkathon in the Karkala City on Thursday, September 27.

The objective of the rally is to make families and society listen to those prone to drug abuse as the first step towards helping them deal with the issue and lead a healthy life.

Udupi district Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi flagged off the walkathon, which started from Ananthashyana Temple and culminated near Jodu Rasthe. Around 1500 people including students, police officials and Public took part in the walkathon.

The valedictory of the Walkathon was held at the Kulala Sabha Bhavan Jodurasthe. Udupi district Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi presided over the function.

Former Karkala MLA Gopal Bhandary, International Athlete Rohit Kumar Kateel, Mohammed Isaq Thashidlar Karkala, Suryakanth Shetty Asst. Governor of Rotary Club, Muniyal Uday Kumar Shetty and others took part in the valedictory ceremony.
