Ward Patron Picturization Contest Brings Bondel Parish Together in Celebration

Mangalore: On the occasion of the Centenary Celebrations, the Cultural Committee of St. Lawrence Church hosted the Ward Patron Picturization Contest, which commenced at 3 p.m. The event witnessed a remarkable turnout, with parishioners coming together in high spirits to celebrate their shared faith and community.

The afternoon began with an opening prayer led by Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. William D’Souza, setting a reverent tone for the proceedings. Rev. Fr. Peter Gonsalves, Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium School, extended a warm welcome to the judges, presenting each with a rose as a token of appreciation for their participation.

A total of 16 wards competed, each entry providing a unique portrayal of devotion toward their respective patrons, showcasing the rich tapestry of community spirit. The esteemed panel of judges comprised Rev. Fr. Arun Wilson Lobo, Sr. Saritha Maria Crasta, and Miss Sweedal D’Souza, who meticulously evaluated the creative presentations.

Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Andrew expressed his gratitude by presenting tokens of appreciation to each judge, acknowledging their valuable insights and time. The musical interlude was provided by Music Master Simon and his group, who performed hymns dedicated to the Saints, enriching the spiritual ambiance of the event.

Following the competition, the judges shared their reflections. Rev. Fr. Arun Wilson Lobo commended the dedication and creativity displayed in each presentation, acknowledging the effort participants invested within the three-minute time limit.

Miss Sweedal D’Souza shared her joy over the enthusiastic participation of both children and adults, congratulating the organizers and participants alike for their commitment. Sr. Saritha Maria Crasta praised the spirit of unity and collaboration evident among the ward members, highlighting the successful efforts of the Cultural Committee.

Dr. Rita Pinto served as the program’s emcee, maintaining a warm and engaging presence throughout. At the same time, Mrs. Shaila Saldanha delivered a gracious vote of thanks, acknowledging all contributors to the event’s success.

All participating wards received consolation cash prizes, with the top three winners awarded cash prizes and special mementos commemorating the renovated church.

The champions of the contest were recognized as follows:

1st Prize – Holy Trinity Ward

2nd Prize – St. Joseph Ward

3rd Prize – Christ the King Ward

The event concluded with a heartfelt thanksgiving prayer, leaving the parishioners with smiles and a renewed sense of community spirit.
