Watchman Should Undergo Lie Detector Test in Kairangala Cow Theft Case

Mangaluru: “On March 29, BJP leader Rajaram Bhat filed a complaint that miscreants had barged into the Amrithadhare Goshala and stolen the cows. The Konaje police have registered the case and already two persons have been arrested. But as soon as the complaint was filed Rajaram without giving time for the police to investigate the case, staged an indefinite fast. We are not against the fasting but why did Rajaram invited political leaders and encourage them to deliver inciting speeches. In the state, elections being declared and the model code of conduct is in force. We doubt that it was a preplan of the BJP to gain sympathy through the cow theft issue”, said the Congress spokesperson Vinayraj in a press meet held at the DCC here on April 9.

Addressing the mediapersons Vinayraj said, “According to the complaint filed by Rajaram Bhat, on March 29, the police had registered a case under section 464 and 380 IPC but after investigating the case on March 30, the police had interrogated the watchman of the Goshala and added section 411, 414, 457, and also sections 8, 9 and 11 of the Karnataka Prevention of Cow Slaughter and Cattle Prevention Act. In the complaint, it was also mentioned that CCTV cameras were installed in the premises of the Goshala. When were the cows stolen and what was the watchman doing at that time? Did the watchman have a mobile phone with him? If he did have the phone, why did he not inform the police or the owner? Cow trafficking is not easy, because animals do not have brains like humans. The cow by itself will not climb any vehicle easily. If the watchman was there on the spot, why did he not click any photographs of the cow traffickers or shout at the time to alert others nearby? Could they not get any information through CCTV footage about the vehicle and the cattle traffickers? If the watchman will be put through a lie detector test the truth will come out”.

Vinayraj further said, “Now since the elections are nearing, why is Rajaram Bhat so interested to hold indefinite fasting without giving enough time to the police to investigate the case. If the police had not taken action to investigate the case Rajaram had the right to protest but the police have already arrested two persons in connection with this case, why then is Rajaram fasting? Why is he inviting political leaders and encouraging them to deliver inciting speeches? There might be a conspiracy behind this protest! The BJP leaders and also the members of the Mahila Morcha have joined the protest in large numbers which is a sign to spoil the peace and harmony in the society. There is permission to hold the protest from the police but there is no permission to deliver inciting speeches. How did Rajaram permit political leaders to deliver inciting speeches?”.

Vinayraj also said, “BJP has no any development agenda to go to the people in the coming elections. So the BJP is doing politics in the name of cows and nationalism. Such protests will create communal violence in the society which should not be allowed. On April 4, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel also visited Kairangala and delivered a speech and said, Minister U T Khader supports cow theft. We have already handed over a memorandum to the police commissioner to take action against those who have violated the model code of conduct”.

Congress leaders Sadashiv Ullal, Mohammed Haneef, Ramanand, Prem, Nirajpal and Nithyanand Shetty were also present.
