We are Protecting Rajeshwari Shetty’s Property – Advocate Chidananda
Mangaluru: Advocates of Bhaskar Shetty murder accused Rajeshwari Shetty held a press meet at the press club, Urwa here on November 23.
Addressing the mediapersons, Advocate Chidananda Kedilaya said, “Durga International, a firm belonged to Bhaskar Shetty and Rajeshwari Shetty. The firm, Durga International runs a hotel and lodge, Durga International is represented by its partners. The main intention now is to protect the interests of Durga international. We the advocates on behalf of Rajeshwari Shetty have filed an affidavit to the court and the third additional court has granted a temporary injunction against any interference by Bhaskar Shetty’s mother and her relatives.
The suit was filed on September 17, 2016, and the order was passed on September 19. Gulabi Shetty had filed an affidavit that she was the owner and she has the right to the property. But the judge said, death is not proved and it is at the stage of inquiry and not a stage to pass any order. To protect the property, the court has given permission to run the hotel. Rajeshwari has given the power of attorney to her sister Renuka Vishwanath Rai and her mother Sumati Shetty. NRI Hotelier Bhaskar Shetty had taken a loan and Durga International is mortgaged to the Karnataka Bank, Adi Udupi branch. The hotel is built in Rajeshwari’s land, which was gifted to Rajeshwari by her mother and Bhaskar Shetty invested in constructing the hotel. Now the Court has ordered to run the hotel and the funds generated from the hotel to be used to repay the loan. Rajeshwari Shetty has given the power of attorney to her mother and sister to run the business, the court is in favour of us”.
Advocate Chidananda Kedilaya further said, “At the same time Bhaskar Shetty’s relatives namely Guruprasad Shetty, Jogu Shetty, Jayanti Shetty, Chandrashekhar Shetty and Nirmala Shetty are interfering in the hotel affairs and hindering the business operations. They have even forcibly taken over the operations of the hotel and put false allegations on Rajeshwari’s sisters. We have filed complaints twice to take action against Guruprasad Shetty, Jogu Shetty, Jayanti Shetty, Chandrashekhar Shetty and Nirmala Shetty. The third additional court heard the case and permitted Rajeshwari’s sister Renuka to run the hotel business. Bhaskar Shetty’s family members are trying to mislead the people by giving false statements to the media and to clarify it we are here today. Our intention is only to protect the property of Rajeshwari Shetty.”
Chidananda also said, “Even if Rajeshwari Shetty is convicted she has 50% rights, no one can snatch 50% of the rights from Rajeshwari. In this case, the murder is not proved. The claim by Bhaskar Shetty’s family members is suspicious, without any evidence Bhaskar Shetty’s mother is giving statements. They are misleading the people”.
Speaking to the media, Renuka Rai sister of Rajeshwari said, “Bhaskar Shetty was in Saudi and his business was in Dubai and Saudi. The Hotel Durga International was built on the land which was gifted to Rajeshwari by her mother Sumati. The property which Bhaskar Shetty’s family members claim that he had Rs 300 crore worth property is nowhere. The media highlighted that Bhaskar Shetty had property worth Rs 300 crore. Whatever business he had in Saudi was managed by his relatives. The Durga International land belongs to Rajeshwari Shetty which was gifted to her by her mother Sumati Shetty. While constructing the hotel, the land was mortgaged to the Karnataka bank for Rs 2.5 crores, the house which is built in Indrali is worth Rs 2crore, the gym is worth Rs 1.5 crore, one more building is worth Rs 3 crore, the total property is worth about Rs 10 crore and on that property we have a loan of Rs 6.5 crore. Bhaskar Shetty did not have much property in Udupi, whatever property is in Bhaskar’s name, his relatives are taking advantage of it. My two sisters were running the hotel business, four years ago there was some misunderstanding in the business and one of my sisters came out of the hotel business. Rajeshwari Shetty is the managing partner in Durga International and Bhaskar Shetty was a manager. Whatever Bhaskar Shetty owns in Saudi has no value here. In the civil suit, Bhaskar Shetty’s mother has not produced Bhaskar Shetty’s will”.
When asked whether Rajeshwari is innocent, Advocate Chidanada refused to comment.
