We do not Accept PM Modi’s Statement ’80 percent Gau Rakshaks are fake’ –  Jagadish Shenava

Mangaluru: “From October 18, the festival of lights will be celebrated all over the country. During Diwali, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal will hold the Gau Puja. The Gau Puja will be held at 120 places in Mangaluru and Puttur”, said the District President of VHP Jagadish Shenava in a press meet held at the VHP office, Kadri here on October 17.

Addressing the mediapersons Jagadish Shenava said, “On October 14, a techie named Nandini informed the Talaghattapura police about cow trafficking, after she noticed 14 cows being taken illegally to the slaughterhouse. But Nandini was assaulted by 100 people in front of two policemen. Instead of rescuing Nandini from the mob, the police fled from the spot leaving Nandini alone. When there was the pub attack and assault on girls in Mangaluru, there was a hue and cry and the incidents were widely publicised. But when a woman informed the police about illegal cow trafficking, she was thrashed by more than 100 persons. In this connection, the police so far have arrested only 4 persons. VHP and BD demand the arrest of all those who were involved in assaulting the woman and the suspension of the police who were on the spot during the assault.”

Jagadish Shenava warned that if the department fails to take action against the persons who had assaulted Nandini and the policemen, in the coming days VHP and BD will hold a statewide protest.

Jagadish Shenava further said, “We have met the Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation and submitted a memorandum to close down all the illegal slaughterhouses run by the MCC. There are many illegal slaughterhouses in Mangaluru that should be closed. We have a dynamic Mayor, instead of raiding petty shops and street vendors, let she close all the illegal slaughterhouses”.

When asked about Modi’s statement that 80 percent Gau Rakshaks were fake, Jagadish Shenava said, “We are not accepting the statement of PM Narendra Modi. According to PM Modi, there are 80% fake Gau Rakshaks but we consider all the Gau Rakshaks to be genuine with a concern for the cows and want to protect the cows from cow traffickers.”

VHP leaders Dinesh Pai, Gopal Kuthar, Bajrang Dal leaders Bhujang Kulal, Umesh Jappinamogeru and Praveen Kuthar were also present.
