‘We have postponed Bharat Bachao, BJP should cancel Jana Jagrati Meet’ – DCC

Mangaluru: “We have planned to hold “Bharat Bachao”, but due to the recent violence we have postponed our programme. At the same time, the BJP has also planned to hold a Jana Jagrati programme related to CAA. If the BJP holds the Jana Jagrati programme there are chances of a tense situation being created. Hence, the Congress party requests the BJP to postpone the programme”, said the DCC president Harish Kumar in a press meet held at the DCC office, Mallikatta here on December 31.

Addressing the mediapersons Harish Kumar said, “The Muslim Central Committee has decided to hold the programme on January 4 and the BJP has also decided to hold a Jana Jagrati programme on January 12. But such a programme at present may create law and order problems. I have requested the home minister to postpone the programme. To maintain peace and harmony, we have postponed the Bharat Bachao programme likewise the BJP should also postpone their programme”.

Speaking to the mediapersons former Minister U T Khader said, “I have spoken to the Home Minister about the Judicial inquiry in the police firing case. The sitting judge of the High court should investigate the case because we don’t have trust in the Magisterial or CID inquiry. In giving compensation the government should implement a certain policy. The compensation was denied because Jalil and Nausheen’s names are in the FIR. If the police will not include the names of Jalil and Nausheen, it will be a problem for the police that they have killed innocent people. Their names have been added in the FIR to save the police.”

U T Khader further said, “Wherever we go, we see the police being deployed which creates fear among the people. When the people go to the Temple, Church or Mosque sometimes they are being questioned. The additional police deployed in the city should be withdrawn”.

Addressing the mediapersons Ivan D’Souza said, “On January 2, likeminded organizations will hold a peaceful protest near the Ambedkar Statue in front of the Town Hall. Congress will join the protest. The protest will be from 10 am to 4 pm.”
