‘We Proved that Marriage and having Kids is Not the End for a Lady’- ‘Mrs Mangalore’ Sudheeksha Kiran
Mangaluru: Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, ‘Mrs. Popular’ at ‘Haute Monde Mrs.India Worldwide 2017’ winner Ms Soujanya Hegde, and the organizer of the just concluded “Mrs Mangalore 2018 Beauty pageant said, “Mrs. Mangalore 2018 stunned the audiences in Mangaluru with a great display of talent, grace and poise. Sudheeksha Kiran bagged the Mrs. Mangalore title, while Hera Pinto & Angelita Lewis won the first and second runner up respectively. The winners won cash prize of 75,000/- 50,000/- & 25,000/- respectively and loads of gift hampers, vouchers and goodies.
She further said, “Mrs. Mangalore was a part of the JCI Week from September 9-15 organised by JCI, Mangalore Lalbagh, Zone XV under the leadership of yours truly, JCI Sen. Soujanya Hegde (President). It was a resounding success with over 20 finalists showcasing their talents, grace and oratory skills at Hotel BMS, Kuntikan, Mangaluru. The contestants wowed audiences with a Traditional Saree round, Indian Fusion Wear Round and Evening Gown round. The top 12 went through a grueling Q&A session with the judges, while the top 6 had to interpret an image with their own perspective.
The subtitles were also awarded to: Mrs Inspiration- Ruksana Hassan; Mrs Rampwalk- Angelita Lewis; Mrs Beauty with Heart -Soumyalaxmi Shetty; Mrs Photogenic – Hera Pinto; Mrs Beautiful Smile – Shwetha Kamath; Mrs Popular – Fiona Costa; Mrs Social Media- Sudheeksha Kiran; Mrs Congeniality – Jyothi Shetty; Mrs Talented – Mona Mendonca, and Mrs Fit – Shruthi Rai. A special contest by our sponsors on Sun premium refined sunflower oil gave away gold coins to two winners – Priya Poornima and Vinutha Dsouza and also silver coins to all 20 finalists” added Ms Hegde.
She further said, “After the initial auditions on August 4th 2018 at BMS Hotel, the participants went through numerous sessions with professional trainers like: Chandini Goyal: Make up & image management; Maitri Malli & Vikas Putran: Ramp walk & poise; Poornima Shetty, LOL Studio: Importance of Accessories; Venugopal S J: speak to impress; Sachitha nandagopal: mind training; Dr Priyadarshini- Health. Former Executive vice-president of JCI India & National Trainer Jc SadanandaNavada inaugurated the event. The contest was judged by Mrs. Pallavi Gurukiran Shetty, Venkat Charan Shetty and Actor Anoop Sagar. One of the main components of the event was our commitment towards the betterment of our society. With this regard, the contestants launched a Ketto campaign, inspiring people to donate to worthy causes. The money was utilized in the JCI project-Suraksha project, Sujal project, scholarship, etc. We had fantastic entertaining performances by Velocity dance troupe and Mangaluru Excellent Dance Academy dance troupe. The event was compered by RJ Anurag in a meticulous way”.
“Mrs Inspiration” winner in the Beauty pageant Ms Ruksana Hassan and Founder President of Mangalore JCI Lalbagh Peter Pinto were also on the dais during the press meet. First Runner in the Pageant Ms Hera Pinto couldn’t be at the Press meet due to her work. Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Mrs Mangalore winner Ms Sudheeksha Kiran said, I would like to extend my gratitude to the people of Mangalore and the whole organizing team for crowning me as Mrs.Mangalore 2018. I am a biology lecturer by profession, teaching at Boscoss PU college, married to Kiran Kumar a businessman and we have a 2 year old son. Competing in Mrs Mangalore was definitely not a easy one both from the sides of competition point of view and managing house family and work, but I was quite determined to win this and gave my best from auditions to grand finale that is nearly a span of two months of training and tasks. This platform has given wings to all the married ladies who had come from different walks of life and were there to prove that Marriage and having kids is not the end for a lady”.
“Soujanya Hegde, the organizer of this prestigious event has been the greatest inspiration for every single lady hear and every time we felt we could not do it, she made sure to guide and motivate us. She has always made sure we were at our best foot front. The entire event was set on international standards and she made sure she gave the best of quality to all the participants. Winning the crown and titles has now given us a platform which we dreamt of. We the winners of Mrs Mangalore have decided to use this platform to voice and up bring the ladies and empower them to the best that we can. We have decided to come up with an NGO in the name of Mrs. Mangalore This NGO shall be carried over by the future winners in years to come. The exact mode of action with regard to this will be updated soon. I thank all who have been with me through this journey of Mrs. Mangalore. Me, Hera and Angelita and with the guidance of Soujanya Hegde shall use this platform for the best”added Sudheeksha.
Second Runner-Up in the Beauty Pageant, Dr Angelita Lewis said, “Married to Collin Dsouza, by profession I am a Naturopath and a yoga practitioner. Well, to begin with I was told by my husband about the pageant of Mrs Mangalore which got me excited as it was my first time in this field. As I got into the pageant it was not about beauty but it was a complete package of Being Confident, Speech Training and Communication, Ramp Walk, skin and hair care, along with how to look elegant, dietetics etc.
This has evolved me into a new person as these training’s have put me closer to being bold, confident etc and with that determination I am glad that Soujanya Hegde gave me an opportunity to come forward and also am honored to excel as the 2nd runner up pf Mrs. Mangalore2018. Being with my fellow contestants I have learnt a lot which I can cherish my whole life. the step which Soujanya had taken has made me more prosperous as I was always waiting for a chance to put forth my views about women empowerment and I am glad I have made a strong base for me”added Dr Angelita.
