The 1st year students complained with the principal of being ragged by the seniors. In this connection, the principal of Srinivas College filed a complaint against the students.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Nizam, a student of Srinivas college said, “Last week, we had protested against the College authorities for restricting girl students from wearing the headscarf in the college campus. Targeting the students who had protested, the principal filed a false complaint of ragging on 20 students in the Mangaluru Rural police station. On September 9, police arrested 3 innocent students from their homes”.

Nizam further said, “On September 10, morning we went to the Mangaluru Rural police station to hand over a memorandum to the police inspector to release the students. But the police in the station informed the  police and lathi charged us. One student who was recording the incident was caught by the police and the video recording from his mobile was deleted by them.”

Nizam also said, “We have brought the injured to the Wenlock Hospital. At the same time, the police also arrived to the hospital for treatment. Even though we came first, the hospital authorities treated us after treating the police. The students who had complained about the ragging to the principal, are now ready to withdraw the case which was a false case registered by the principal. Our CFI leaders have approached the police commissioner in this regard”.
