‘We will WIN the Elections, & Congress will be at Helm of MCC again’- Harish Kumar
Mangaluru : Addressing the media persons at Congres office, Mallikatta-Mangaluru, District Congress Committee President Harish Kumar said, “Congress candidates for all 60 wards in Mangaluru City Council elections were chosen after a consensus of all leaders, including B. Janardhan Poojary. All the candidates have been decided by the election committee of the party following a consensus of leaders, including Poojary, MLCs and former MLA’s by taking into consideration their winnability. We have given chances to new faces, and tried our best to select candidates from various communities”.
“Losing one congress person (former corporator Ms Asha D’silva) to BJP, we are not worried at all. We are still strong with our membership, and Congress will stay united under any circumstances” added Kumar. Rubbishing claims made by former MLA K. Vijaykumar Shetty
and senior leader Kallige Taranath Shetty during a press meet that tickets were given to Poojary’s supporters, Harish Kumar said ” Janardhan Poojary was a leader and his views were considered. All the candidates selected have been approved by Poojary. Disciplinary action would be initiated against the two senior party activists. We have also come to know that there were few wards where some party activists are contesting against official candidates, as independents. We’ve asked them to withdraw”.
“November 4 being the last day to withdraw the nominations, but no one has come forward to back out, so our final list of candidates for 60 Wards remains the same. We condemn the attack on former MLA Moideen Bava by former MCC Mayor Gulzar Banu’s son , and we have sought a written complaint from Bava and based on it we will initiate action. Regarding the proposed Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) by Central government, and if signed it will surely affect the farmers. Farmers and animal husbandry are already facing enough loss, and if this agreement is approved and signed, it will put them in more
hardship” added Kumar.
Before concluding Harish Kumar said, “We are confident that Congress will bag the majority in the MCC council elections, and we will be at the helm of MCC once again. Congress has been governing MCC for many years, and only once BJP came to power, and they lasted only for one term. During former CM Siddaramaiah’s tenure, MCC had received maximum
fund sanctions for the development, and many projects have been materialized. Meanwhile, the previous council headed by congress Mayors has taken up several development works. Former MLA’s J R Lobo and Moideen Bava have also successfully implemented several schemes. And we are confident that citizens of Mangaluru will trust the Congress candidates, and vote them into power, so we can manage MCC once again”.
Mangaloreans are not stupid to vote for Cong I.
