Weathermen Predicts High Waves and Heavy Wind in Karnataka Coast

Udupi: High swell waves and heavy wind are likely to batter the Karnataka coast till 23:30 hours of Monday, October 8.

In a press note issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s office, it has been stated that a low-pressure area is very likely to form over the southeast Arabian Sea on 5th October. It is very likely to concentrate into a depression and move northwest during the subsequent 36 hours. It is very likely to intensify into a cyclonic storm thereafter and move towards the Oman Coast.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into southeast and the central Arabian Sea from 5th October 2018 onwards.

Fishermen in deep-sea areas of southeast and the central Arabian Sea are advised to return to the coast before 5th October 2018.

High Ocean State associated with the low-pressure system/depression in the open ocean (off Karnataka): Waves with maximum heights in the range of 3.0 /4.5 meters (approximately 300 Km away from the coast) are forecasted during 11:30 hours on 07-10-2018 to 23:30 hours of 08-10-2018. Surface Current speeds vary between 75 – 120 cm/sec.
