Website Impact- Cops Clean Up the Mess they Left Behind?
Mangaluru: Yes, once again Mangalorean.com has proved one more positive result after highlighting another civic issue -Talk about the power of media, especially Electronic media where we highlight the civic issues and within few hours or few days the concerned authorities who can’t bear the criticism about their negligence, quickly get into action and rectify the civic issues. In the past Mangalorean.com has highlighted various civic issues through our website, and there has been a tremendous effect with most of the problems being fixed in no time, from rectifying dilapidated roads, open drainage, non-friendly footpaths, dog menace, neglected garbage, illegal hoardings, pot holes etc.
Before
For the last few months it was an ugly scene filled with garbage comprising of left over food, plastic bags, empty food containers, plastic water bottles etc near the Police Check-Booth, located near the road going down from Nanthoor circle towards Kadri market. But being the responsible citizens of Mangaluru, our beloved city cops should think before they discard their waste in their surroundings. To make matters worse, these garbage-filled spot are potentially more dangerous that the black spots on street corners or the roadside. The garbage found in this specific area and ends up serving as a fostering ground for rodents, snakes, mosquitoes and stray dogs. This uncollected garbage near this police booth in days will pile up and will be a welcome sign to mosquitoes and other creatures.
After
In order to highlight this issue of this scattered garbage which is a direct abuse towards “Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan”, Team Mangalorean had published an article “http://www.mangalorean.com/swacch-mangaluru-abused-even-cops-dirty-surroundings/” couple of days ago- and the response was such that within few hours, Team Mangalorean got the news that the cops of the police booth had already got a order from their higher authority to clean the mess done by them, immediately. Team Mangalorean went to the spot the next day and were surprised to see the “tidy” place, which was once “untidy” with heap of garbage? Glad that our report brought some positive results, and also brought some changes in the habits of these cops, to keep their surroundings clean. Yes, together we can a difference, in keeping Mangaluru City clean and green!
