Website Impact! Fallen Trees Branches Cleared Off the MCC Parking Lot near KCCI

Mangaluru: Talk about magic that issues highlighted in Mangalorean.com are getting rectified in no time- so, once again Mangalorean.com has proved one more positive result after highlighting another civic issue -Talk about the power of media, especially Electronic media where we highlight the civic issues and within few hours or couple of days the concerned authorities who can’t bear the criticism about their negligence, quickly get into action and rectify the civic issues. In the past Mangalorean.com has highlighted various civic issues through our website, and there has been a tremendous effect with most of the problems being fixed in no time, from rectifying dilapidated roads, open drainage, non-friendly footpaths, dog menace, neglected garbage, illegal hoardings, pot holes, dying trees etc.

Team Mangalorean had published an article “https://www.mangalorean.com/total-negligence-trimmed-tree-branches-occupy-precious-parking-space-near-kcci-bld/” in Mangalorean.com dated 15 July 2019, highlighting the negligence of Mangaluru City Corporation leaving behind fallen/cut tree branches on the newly inaugurated MCC Parking Lot near Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry- on 2 February 2019, the inauguration of approach concrete road to Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), interlocking MCC car parking area and MCC toilet building was done by Mohammed Kunjathbail, the Deputy Mayor, Mangalore City Corporation, joined by P B Abdul Hameed, president, KCCI; Office-bearers, past presidents and directors of KCCI; Abdul Latif, corporator, Bunder ward; MCC dignitaries, engineers, and other eminent merchants of Bunder.

SCENE BEFORE THE REPORT WAS PUBLISHED

While it’s a hectic time to find a parking space in Mangaluru City, but on the other hand when there is enough parking space it is either taken by street vendors or in this case, by fallen trees or trimmed tree branches. Especially in the busy area like Bunder, finding a parking space is a nightmare. And the sad part was that after a new parking lot was constructed near KCCI-Bunder, the MCC turned a blind eye towards a bunch of trimmed tree branches, which unfortunately the space where a few vehicles could have made used for parking.

Right after seeing the report in Mangalorean.com about the issue, the President of Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry Abdul Hameed called Team Mangalorean and said, ” I appreciate you bringing this to the notice of KCCI. We would surely follow up with MCC and see that action is taken up in rectifying the issue. We had long ago approached the concerned officials at MCC on the same matter, but they had taken their own time, by not fixing the problem. We will continue our efforts in seeing that the issue is solved”.

                                                    AFTER WEBSITE IMPACT

Today 31 July 2019 Team Mangalorean visited the area and it was nice to note that the trimmed tree branches scattered on the parking lot had been cleared, except that a bit sweeping of leaves has to be done- but the present condition is much better than it was couple of weeks ago. I would like to thank Abdul Hameed, the president of KCCIfor his determination, and efforts in trying to solve the problems, now that a few more vehicles can park in that parking lot. Speaking to Team Mangalorean over the phone from Chennai, Abdul Hameed who is on a business tour said, “Right after after Mangalorean.com published the report highlighting the issue, I quickly called the person to clear the mess, for which he agreed to do so soon. But due to to the rains, the work was delayed. But I am happy the issue is solved”. Three cheers and kudos to Abdul Hameed for a good work done.
TOILET ISSUE IS  STILL TO BE RECTIFIED

Before concluding I wanted to highlight on yet another issue which has been neglected by MCC- even though they had constructed a new mens’/womens’ toilet, but the final touches have not been completed-where you can see electric switches hanging, and already the sanitation inside the toilet has turned brown. When brought to the notice of the toilets to Abdul Hameed, he said that he will follow up with the concerned officials and do the needful- and it all depends on the action taken by them”. Team Mangalorean is sure that Abdul will get this toilet get ready and put to use at the earliest. Once again, a big thank you in anticipation to Hameed for his determination and efforts in getting things solved”

It is learnt that MCC is trying to find a a firm to run the parking lot and toilet, and once a proper tender is finalized, this parking lot and toilet near KCCI is all good to go. And if Hameed puts in his keen efforts, Bunder area could look forward for a spacious parking area with a toilet nearby. After all, where there is a will, there’s a way- and that KCCIpresident will prove it right. Thank You KCCI for respecting our report and doing the needful, for the benefit of the citizens.
