Website Impact! On Kadri Park Rd No Buses Parked & NO Garbage Dumped

Mangaluru : Once again Mangalorean.com has proved one more positive result after highlighting another civic issue -Talk about the power of media, especially Electronic media where we highlight the civic issues and within few hours or couple of days the concerned authorities who can’t bear the criticism about their negligence, quickly get into action and rectify the civic issues. In the past Mangalorean.com has highlighted various civic issues through our website, and there has been a tremendous effect with most of the problems being fixed in no time, from rectifying dilapidated roads, open drainage, non-friendly footpaths, dog menace, neglected garbage, illegal hoardings, pot holes, dying trees etc.

BEFORE…….

Less than 24 hours after Mangalorean.com had published an article ‘Suraj Holidays’ Tourist Bus Crew Turn Kadri Park Road into Make-Shift Garbage Dump’ dated 20 March 2019, highlighting a civic issue where the crew of tourist buses were seen dumping waste along the side of Kadri Park Road stretch. Even though the garbage menace in this area has been there for a long time, but on 20 March, tired of waiting for civic officials to take cognizance of the pile of garbage problem in this locality, the members of a walk group who call themselves as “Walkomaniacs” comprising of doctors, engineers, builders, entrepreneurs and other professionals took the baton in their own hands and complained to the Kadri East Police station, and even confronted the bus crew and made them clean the mess that they had made in that area- with a firm determination to stop these ignorant bus drivers, conductors and cleaners dumping waste from their respective buses in the Kadri Park locality.

Team Mangalorean had also highlighted that the parking of such buses, other than dumping garbage created inconveniences to the walkers, and the link was forwarded to the owner of Suraj Holidays by MCC Civic Group, and to the concerned authorities- and it proved effective, since no buses were seen parked at the earlier location this morning. And it has been a sigh of relief for the walkers, who can walk on the footpath rather than on the street. Speaking to Team Mangalorean-Dr Sachidanada Rai -President of Indian Medical Association (Mangaluru) and Dr Nagraj Shetty- Dept of General Medicine at A J Hospital ( and both members of Walkomaniacs) said, “We are happy that our efforts worked, and we are thankful to Team Mangalorean for highlighting the issue, and the concerned people obliged. We would follow up if any other buses start parking and will do the same process what we did with the earlier bus people. ‘

.………AFTER
Stern action should be taken against those who litter, if not Swachh Bharath or Swachh Mangaluru will not see the light of the day-nor will it make PM Narendra Modi’s dream come true. While appreciating the efforts and initiative taken by the “Walkomaniacs” group, let us all follow in their footsteps and stop those who litter, and Let’s together make our city clean, our country clean. Thank You!
