Well-known Banker K M Udupa passes away
Udupi: Karkada Manjunatha Udupa known as K M Udupa a well-known Banker, a former executive of Syndicate bank and trustee of Bharathiya Vikas Trust passed away on Saturday, July 27. He was 80.
KM Udupa joined Syndicate bank in the early sixties. Under the leadership of late T A Pai, Udupa was instrumental in designing the agriculture credit policy of Syndicate bank which was considered as a model for other banks and a forerunner in deciding the National Agriculture Credit Policy.
Having worked as the head of the banks’ rural development department, Udupa also worked as the chairman of Malaprabha Grameen Bank, head of the various regions of Syndicate bank before retiring and taking over the responsibility of Bharathiya Vikas Trust as its managing trustee.
He is survived by wife Shantha, three sons and a daughter.
Great visionary, great banker, lived to princilples of this land. Very sad demise. Huge loss to agriculture and organic farming. May his soul rest in peace.
