What a Relief! Anti-Black Magic and Inhuman Practices Prevention Act to Prevent Superstitions
Mangaluru: We are glad to know that the anti-black magic and inhuman practices prevention act of by whatever name it is called has been approved by the cabinet of the Karnataka Govt.
Even though such legislation cannot totally get rid of superstitions in the society it will go some way to prevent exploitation of the gullible people. Superstition can be eradicated from the society only by proper education in teaching the children to develop scientific temper and the spirit of enquiry from a young age itself.
This proposal was put forward by us at a protest meeting held at Banashankari in August 2013 the day after Narendra Dabholara was murdered. In that Gauri Lankesh had also participated and had vehemently condemned the murder. It is ironical that she is not alive to see it become law.
