What is Lobo’s Contribution to Mangaluru in 5 years as MLA? – Vedavyas Kamath
Mangaluru: “During the elections, it is common to level allegations on the sitting MLA. But when such allegations are levelled against me, I need to respond. In the recent past during a meeting in the ZP, the MP had said that there is a problem in Shaktinagar to construct houses for the poor. I never had mentioned former MLA J R Lobo’s name anywhere. Our MP understood the land problem in Shaktinagar but the former MLA is blaming me. In a press meet held recently, Lobo has asked, what is my contribution to Mangaluru. I am a businessman turned politician but what is the contribution of Mr Lobo to Mangaluru during his tenure as MLA for 5 years? questioned MLA Vedavyas Kamath in a press meet held at the BJP office, Kodialbail here on March 1.
Addressing the mediapersons MLA Vedavyas said, “In the ZP meeting, the Shaktinagar housing issue was raised and I had taken the officials to task. I never named former MLA J R Lobo anywhere but Mr Lobo has put allegations on me and asked what is my contribution to Mangaluru in 10 months? I am just a beginner and my aim is to bring unique projects to Mangaluru. At present, Congress is ruling the state and also the MCC, so it is difficult to get the projects from the state government. But being into the government department for 40 years what was Mr Lobo doing? He has vast experience in administration and before launching the housing project at Shaktinagar why did he not check the status of the land? Why is Mr Lobo levelling allegations against me now?”
Vedavyas further said, “The former MLA is claiming that the 3D Planetarium is his project but it was sanctioned by Jagadish Shetter when he was the CM but Lobo had removed the plaque to mislead the people into thinking that was his project. The Kadri new Circuit house is also our project but the Congress inaugurated it as theirs. The Guddali puja of Kadri market was done two years ago but till date work has not started. Now in a hurry, they have done the guddali puja of Kankanady Market. If the project does not start soon we will have to call for tender again. Recently Lobo levelled an allegation that I have done injustice to the poor people and God will see to it. But today God has seen and given me the opportunity to serve the people after becoming the MLA. Lobo’s biggest contribution is the KUDCEMP project. Today people are facing water crisis after spending so much money and the drainages are overflowing everywhere. His contribution is the case filed against me in Bengaluru for the EVM machine tempering so that I can go to Bengaluru every now and then and waste my time.”
When asked about his efforts in Shaktinagar project, Vedavyas said, “There are several problems that need to be solved one by one and that may take some time. I am sure I will solve all the problems and successfully complete the Shaktinagar project for the poor.”
