- Bendore Bus Shelter Littered with Waste! What Part of the Sign ‘Swatch Bharath, Swasth Bharath’ these Educated College Girls Don’t Understand?
Mangaluru: For the last five years, the volunteers of Ramakrishna Mission under the Swachh Bharath, Swatch Mangaluru’ campaign have done a great job in cleaning the streets, footpaths, lanes, and bus shelters, and among the Bus shelters the newly constructed Smart Bus Shelter has been one among them. But unfortunately, a bunch of students of the college nearby the Bendore Bus Shelter have abused Swachata and have been dumping the garbage right behind this bus shelter, and if left unattended could become a breeding ground for diseases.
Then, why are they not following the Swachata principles? Why are they intentionally littering at this bus shelter?- are the questions one would ask. And someone asks me, how I know that it was the students of this Bendore College and other commuters- my answer for that question is- twice in two different weeks, I stood nearby to the Bendore Smart Bus Shelter, during the College after hours in the evening – I noticed the students buying their snacks/drinks from the petty shop near the Bus shelter, and from the shop below Penguin restaurant, or from the supermarket and two bakeries across the road, and they come back, eat the snacks, enjoy their drinks- and litter the waste right behind the bus shelter. And it’s all true, observed right in front of my eyes.
I do have BIG respect for this College-for its moral values, discipline, and education- but sadly when these few students who should know better, being educated at a prestigious college, should bot abuse Swachh Bharath/Swachh Mangaluru. It looks bad when educated people do such things, when the nation and other organizations are trying their best to keep the Country CLEAN and GREEN- and that includes our Smart City-MANGALURU. I only wish when this report is read by those students who are “GUILTY” in abusing “Swachh Bharath, Swasth Bharath”, should pick up a broom and a garbage bag, and see that the area is CLEAN. Thank You- and Sorry If I hurt anyone- but I couldn’t resist myself in highlighting such a civic issue, on CLEANLINESS?
