‘Where There Is A Need. There Is A Lion’! Lions Club International Dist 317 D donates ‘Anaesthesia ICU Ventilation’ costing Rs 9 lakhs, to District Wenlock Hospital as part of Covid -19 Lions District 317 D Project on 12 June 2020
Mangaluru: There are Lions District Governors who are just for name’s sake and don’t take any initiative in launching projects, and then there are Lions District Governors who are dedicated, committed and hard working, whose aim is to have as many projects for the benefit of the community- and for that matter, Lion Ronald Gomes mjf-the Lions District 317 D Governor belongs in the latter category, where under his tenure which ends at end of June 2020, has undertaken various projects like Blood Donation Camps; providing saplings to Safeguard Environment; Vision screening for children; provided sight to people through free cataract surgeries; screening people for Diabetes and provided medicines; provided food for the needy under the Relieve the Hunger Program; provided food and Covid-19 face masks, sanitizers etc during the recent pandemic- and before his term ends by the end of this month, he along with his team has donated this ‘Anaesthesia ICU Ventilation’ to District Wenlock Hospital.
With the Motto “We Care”- When caring people join together, roll up their sleeves and take action to make their community better, it’s a beautiful thing—and an incredible feeling for everyone involved. On Friday, 12 June 2020, Lions Club International District 317 D, as part of their Covoid-19 Lions District 317 D project donated a Rs 9 lakh worth ‘Anaesthesia ICU Ventilation’ Machine to Covid-19 District Wenlock Hospital, Mangaluru, at a short and sweet program held at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatta-Mangaluru. In his welcome address, Lions governor Ln Ronald Gomes, highlighted the various projects undertaken during his term as the Governor, and showing concern towards the Covid-19 pandemic where many are suffering with the virus and taking treatment at Covid-19 Hospital (Wenlock), he said providing this useful machine will benefit the health care personnel in treating the patients.
The documents and a cut out of the Machine ( for representation) was handed over to the District Minister-in-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary, in the presence of Ln Vasanth Kumar Shetty- Vice District Governor; Ln Shekar Poojary- President, Lions Club of Mangalore; Ln Shiba Ullal- Leo District President; Ms Vani Alva-District Lions Coordinator; Ujwal D’souza- secretary of ACCE (I)-Mangalore Chapter; Kadri Ward Corporator Manohar Shetty; Ln Arvind Shenoy- District Lions Coordinator, among others.
In his speech, Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “We need to compliment Lions Club members for their yeomen service to the community through their various projects. Yes, we all know that we are under the spell of Covid-19 pandemic, and many organizations have come forward with their helping hand to support the needy, and in other volunteering work, and Lions Club is one among them- and I am very grateful to the Lions Club members, and especially to their District Governor Ln Ronald Gomes, who has done a marvelous job in launching various projects, including this donation of ‘Anaesthesia ICU Ventilation’ Machine to our Covid-19 Hospital. No doubt that this unique Machine will be of great use for the doctors, nurses and other health acre staff treating the Coronavirus patients.
