?Oh! I hope it will be a boy this time.? This is something one hears from many a pregnant women expecting their first or second or sometimes even third child.
I am expecting my second child, and nothing makes me more happy than the very thought that I am blessed with the joy of motherhood again. How many unfortunate women the world over long to experience this joy? I have a daughter aged 3 and half years of age. She is an Angel. Many of my friends and even relatives especially my mom-in-law ask me: ?So what gender of the baby do you want this time?? And I say: ?It does not matter to me if it?s a boy or a girl as long as the child is a healthy and normal baby.? My mom-in-law especially tells me ?Oh how is my grandson doing?? And I keep telling her which grandson?? She then laughs it out.
 Why do we human beings have this expectation of always wanting something that we don?t have? Why can?t we just be satisfied and contended with the blessings that we have received. |
Why do we human beings have this expectation of always wanting something that we don?t have? Why can?t we just be satisfied and contended with the blessings that we have received. Many people pass such remarks that if you have a son as the elder child then you must get a girl as the second child and vice versa. Does this mean to say that families who have just one son or one daughter or two sons or two daughters are incomplete? Or less happier than those who have a ?Picture Perfect Family? of One Son and One Daughter? If this were the case then the Holy Family itself is incomplete! Isn?t it? Jesus was the only son he did not have a sister or a brother as his sibling. I TOTALLY DISAGREE.
I hail from a family of four girls and, I am very proud of my family. I have never felt that my family is lacking the reigns that ONLY A SON can carry. We girls have made our family very proud, are all happily settled down and doing very well in our own fields in life. A Family consists of a Father, Mother and child or children. It does not exist on the basis of the sex of a child. Then why does the world go around this stupid phrase: A COMPLETE FAMILY IS FATHER, MOTHER, SON AND DAUGHTER. Why do we women especially crave for a son? What can the son do that the daughter can?t? Why are boys given preference even in today?s so called modern world. Why do we say it?s a man?s world and not say it?s a human world? Wouldn?t that sound better as all living creatures of this world are called human beings!
