Why MP Shobha and Nalin are Silent in Puttur Gang-Rape Issue? – Vinay Kumar Sorake
Kundapur: “The BJP supported associations are involved in gang rapes on the Dalit community girls in various parts of the state. Why are the BJP leaders silent in the Puttur gang-rape issue?”, questioned former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake.
He was speaking during the installation ceremony of the new office bearers of Kundapur Block Congress on Sunday, July 14.
Addressing the gathering Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “As per the constitution, Dalits have equal rights, but unfortunately, the BJP is not allowing them to live peacefully. Appeasing people of the upper class, BJP is dominating the Dalit and the backward community”.
Vinay Kumar Sorake urged MPs Shobha Karandlaje and Nalin Kumar Kateel to raise the Puttur gang-rape issue in the Parliament. “If in case one of the accused in the gang-rape incident had been from the minority community, Puttur would have been engulfed in violence. Those who outrage the modesty of girls should be given capital punishment and hanged in public,” he asserted.
Sorake also said, “Atrocities on women have increased after the Modi government had come to power. In the gang-rape case, the ABVP took a U-turn, declaring that the accused were not their members.”
Before coming to power the BJP had given various assurances to the people but once they came to power, they have forgotten their promises. BJP is playing with the sentiments of the common people of the country. In the recent Lok Sabha elections, BJP came to power in the name of Pulwama attack. The BJP has won 25 MP’s from the state but there is no single MP from the Backward community. BJP has failed to give social justice to the people of the backward community, he said.
