Puttur: A wildfire that broke out in the some parts of Miyyar reserve forest in Uppinangady region in the taluk on Tuesday has left over 100 acres of precious growth in ashes.

The forest personnel continued their efforts to control the flames but did not find much success. The fire havoc continued on Wednesday by spreading to Perla, Shishila, Puduvettu and Kalenja forests.
Flames in Shibaraje, Chinganigudde and Doddagudde could be seen from a distance. Uppinangady forest officer Sandhya said the fire posed danger to wildlife. The exact loss is yet to be evaluated.
